Oct. 22 - Highland 28, East 7

Story of the game - Mason Keller rushed for 167 yards and Toi
Taufa had 139 more as Highland dominated the line of scrimmage
and handily defeated East in a Region 6 game.

East's best moment - Highland dominated time of possession, so
East didn't have many scoring opportunities. The Leopards only
touchdown came on a 78-yard interception return by Ed Fakahafua.

Highland's best moment - The Rams rushed for 424 yards, and
about 7.5 yards per carry. Highland started its dominance quickly,
recording a safety for the game's first score. Toifa went over 1,000
yards for the season.

What we learned from this game - The Leopards had a chance to
reach the post-season, but needed to beat Highland and then they
would have had to play the Tooele game. With the loss, the season
is complete.

Next - East is done for the season. Highland plays host to Orem in
the first round of the 4A playoffs.

Oct. 16 - East at Tooele

Story of the game - The contest was postponed - or may be
cancelled altogether - due to a flu outbreak at Tooele. If East
defeats Highland on Oct. 22, then the game could be played if it has
post-season implications.

Oct. 9 - Skyline 41, East 7

Story of the game - RB Algernon Brown rushed for 102 yards and
scored four touchdowns, and the Skyline defense kept East out of
the end zone until late in the game to take a convincing non-region
victory.

East's best moment - The Leopards offense was held in check
until Angel Castellanos broke through for a 37-yard run late in the
game against mostly Skyline reserves.

Skyline's best moment - The Eagles jumped on East early, using a
combination of running and passing. QB Chase Dunford had
another good day, throwing a pair of touchdown passes to Brian
Orr, who likely has secured a spot on the all-region team.

What we learned from this game - The Leopards' offense is
struggling. It has been painfully obvious. They have been held to
one touchdown or less in six of eight games. Next week's game
against Tooele will be interesting.

Next - East plays at Tooele. Skyline has a big game against Hunter.

Sept. 30 - Bountiful 24, East 3

Story of the game - RB Mitch Johnson rushed for 74 and scored
three times, and the Bountiful defense kept East out of the end zone
in a convincing Region 6 victory.

East's best moment - East' s scoring information was not
available. But the Leopards' defense did look good in slowing down
the Braves during the first half. It was still a game at halftime.

Bountiful's best moment - The Braves weren't impressive early in
this locally televised game, and Johnson was the only ball carrier
on either team would had a good game. The Braves led 3-0 at
halftime and extended it to 17-3 after three quarters.

What we learned from this game - The Leopards weren't expected
to win this game, but they competed well, especially in the first half.

Next - East has its homecoming game against Skyline. Bountiful
plays host to
Highland.

Sept. 25 - Woods Cross 46, East 6

Story of the game - Aaron Markisich returned the opening kickoff for
a touchdown, and the Woods Cross running attack had its best
game of the season as the Wildcats buried East in a Region 6
contest.

East's best moment - QB Tanner Curtis hit Angel Castellanos on a
fourth-down play late in the first half for the Leopards only score.
Curtis was later injured and left the game.

WX's best moment - The Wildcats rallied after a tough loss the
previous week. Parker Rose had 119 yards rushing, and C.J. Corry
had 93 more as Woods Cross dominated the line of scrimmage.

What we learned from this game - Big loss for East, which fell to
1-2 in region and the schedule doesn't get any easier. Line play will
be especially important in the next two games.

Next - East plays host to Bountiful. Woods Cross returns home to
take on
Stansbury.

Sept. 18 - Olympus 23, East 19

Story of the game - Spencer Harris passed for 212 yards, including
a 3-yard touchdown strike to Carter Young late in the game, as
Olympus rallied to beat East in a Region 6 game.

East's best moment - The Leopards played great defense, and
frustrated Oly for most of the game. East held Oly RB Terry Isaia to
just 17 yards on 10 carries, and Mason Garcia returned an
interception for a touchdown as East once led 19-6.

Oly's best moment - Harris led Oly's comeback. He rushed for 86
yards as East was focused on Isaia. Harris had to throw short, and
found six different receivers. Oly's go-ahead score came with 1:20
left.

What we learned from this game - East certainly played with more
confidence, and this was a winnable effort. Ed Fakahafua had 117
yards 27 carries.

Next - East returns home to play Woods Cross. Olympus plays at
Tooele.

Sept. 11 - East 38, Stansbury 7

Story of the game - RB Ed Fakahafua rushed for 144 yards on 12
carries, and East picked up touchdowns on defense and special
teams en route to the Leopards first win of the season.

East's best moment - The Leopards led just 3-0 in the second
quarter. Then Angel Castellanos returned a punt 69 yards for a
touchdown, and Nick Sessions added a 17-yard fumble return to
keep the Leopards ahead when their offense wasn't working well.

Stansbury's best moment - QB Ryan Hunt connected with Darius
Lopez on a 35-yard scoring pass for Stansbury's only touchdown.
Derrek Christensen and Austin Butler each had three QB sacks for
Stansbury.

What we learned from this game - This was a big win for East,
which had scored just three points in its first three games. This was
a great game for the defense.

Next - East plays at Olympus in another Region 6 game. Stansbury
is off until it takes on
Highland at home Sept. 25.

Sept. 4 - Mountain Crest 48, East 0

Story of the game - QB Alex Kuresa passed for 426 yards and six
touchdowns as Mountain Crest shook off its loss to Lone Peak last
week and blasted East in a non-region game.

East's best moment - In the second quarter, East had a drive end
inside the red zone by a pass interception. The Leopards managed
92 of their 153 total yards in the fourth quarter, mostly against
Mountain Crest reserves.

Mountain Crest's best moment - Kuresa was "on" tonight. On
Mountain Crest's second play, he found Matt Stewart on a 65-yard
touchdown pass. The Mustangs scored on their first seven
possessions.

What we learned from this game - While Mountain Crest might be
for real, East isn't. The Leopards finished non-region play with an
0-3 mark, and have been outscored 117-14. East's schedule can
partially be to blame, but this team still needs lot of improvement.

Next - East opens Region 6 play at Stansbury. Mountain Crest
travels to Pocatello (Idaho).

Aug. 28 - West Jordan 42, East 14

Story of the game - Adam Boelter passed for 230 yards and two
touchdowns, and the West Jordan defense forced four turnovers,
and rallied for a convincing non-region win over East.

East's best moment - The Leopards jumped ahead early. Daniel
Tuuhetaufa returned the opening kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown
and then QB Tanner Curtis tossed a 22-yard scoring pass to Nick
Sessions. It was 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

West Jordan's best moment - The Jaguars settled down after
handing East the early lead. Boelter led two scoring drives, then
Cody Byrd picked up a blocked field goal and raced 65 yards for the
go-ahead touchdown. Later, the Jags stopped East twice inside the
10-yard line.

What we learned from this game - After showing no offense in its
opener, East turned this into a game. The Leopards just couldn't
keep up. So far, the season has not started well for new coach
Sean Knox, but it's still young.

Next - East travels to play 4A power Mountain Crest. West Jordan
travels to
Provo.

Aug. 21 - Snow Canyon 27, East 0

Story of the game - Chase Robinson ran for two scores and the
Snow Canyon defense held East's new spead offense in check,
shutting out the Leopards and suprising even their own fans with
the win.

East's best moment - The Leopards' first-half defense was not at
full strength, as coach Sean Knox reportedly kept them on the
bench for disciplinary reasons. It really didn't matter since could
wasn't going to win anyway with zero points.

Snow Canyon's best moment - The Warriors started quickly.
Robinson's two scores were sandwiched with a TD run by Jake
Jorgensen. Dillon Appel's 33-yard touchdown reception gave Snow
Canyon a 27-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

What we learned from this game - The result of the game isn't as
important as coach Knox chose to maintain discipline over winning
a game, and that will pay dividends in the future. Still, the offense
needs work.

Next - East returns home to play West Jordan. Snow Canyon travels
to Morgan.
