Oct. 22 - Tooele 21, Stansbury 14

Story of the game - QB Milo Leakehe rushed for 167 yards, including
a 40-yard run late in the game that allowed Tooele to run out the
clock, and that ended up being the difference in the Buffaloes'
Region 6 victory over rival Stansbury.

Tooele's best moment - Leakehe came back from injury to have one
of his best games of the season. The Buffaloes never trailed. They
led 14-0 at halftime and held Stansbury out of the end zone in the
fourth quarter.

Stansbury's best moment - The Stallions rallied in the second half.
Austin Butler scored on a 2-yard run and then QB Clint Peterson
connected with Payeton Reed on a 38-yard TD, but Stansbury
couldn't get closer than seven points.

What we learned from this game - This game attracted a huge
crowd, and Tooele had to put in more bleachers to accommodate.
Tooele bounced back after suffering injury problems most of the
year. Having last week off probably helped after the school had
several cases of swine flu.

Next - This was the final game of the season for both teams.

Oct. 16 - East at Tooele

Story of the game - The contest was cancelled  due to a flu outbreak
at Tooele. If East had defeated Highland on Oct. 22, then the game
would have been played due to post-season implications.

Oct. 9 - Woods Cross 44, Tooele 18

Story of the game - QB Tyler Parson threw for 166 yards and two
touchdowns, and RB C.J. Corry had a big night with 134 yards
rushing, as Woods Cross had no trouble beating Tooele and
clinched a post-season berth.

Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes actually controlled the third
quarter. In fact, Nick Hyde took over at QB and led Tooele to three
straight touchdowns to spark some momentum, but it wasn't enough.

WX's best moment -Woods Cross jumped to a 23-0 lead in the first
quarter and held a 37-6 advantage at halftime. Aaron Markisich
thrilled the home crowd with an 85-yard kickoff return.

What we learned from this game - The Buffaloes lost their fifth
straight, but showed some poise with their third-quarter rally. Despite
its record, this time doesn't appear finished.

Next - Tooele plays host to East. Woods Cross travels to Highland.

Sept. 30 - Grantsville 35, Tooele 28

Story of the game - RB Kort Fonger rushed for 100 yards, and Bryce
Ekins scooted 20 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with less than a
minute remaining as Grantsville downed Tooele in a non-region
battle of inner-county rivals.

Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes were ahead or tied
throughout the first half which ended 21-21. QB Nick Hyde had a
good game until being injured in the fourth quarter. The Buffs had a
fourth-quarter drive end on downs at the Grantsville 12-yard line.

Grantsville's best moment - This game went back-and-forth, but the
difference was Grantsville's second-half defense, and the fact it
forced a couple of Tooele turnovers. QB Bridger Boman had a decent
night, and hooked up with WR Tyson Hutchins on a pair of
touchdown passes. It was the first time these teams have played
since 2006.

What we learned from this game - This is why this game should be
played every year. It's a good rivalry full of excitement. It was only
Grantsville's second win, but it will the one the players will remember
for the rest of their lives.

Next - Grantsville travels to Judge Memorial. Tooele goes to Woods
Cross.

Sept. 25 - Olympus 52, Tooele 20

Story of the game - QB Spencer Harris and RB Terry Isaia had big
nights, helping Olympus rush for a season-high 315 yards in a
decisive road win over Tooele in Region 6 game.

Tooele's best moment - James DeSantiago had most of Tooele's
points. He had a 55-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the first
quarter, and then finished Tooele's scoring late in the game with a
15-yard run.

Olympus' best moment - Oly led 28-14 at halftime, but blew out the
Buffaloes with a 24-point third quarter. Jordan Archibald ran for two
touchdowns and Olympus had its biggest offensive outburst of the
season.

What we learned from this game - The Titans were helped by five
Tooele turnovers, which had to bother the homecoming crowd. The
defense, once again, was burned for 52 points.

Next - Tooele goes to Grantsville in a non-region rivalry game.
Olympus
travels to Highland.

Sept. 19 - Highland 52, Tooele 15

Story of the game - Toi Taufa rushed for 123 yards, and teammate
Apolosi Maumau scored every team he touched the ball as Highland
buried Tooele in its homecoming game and Region 6 opener.

Tooele's best moment - James DeSantiago scored both of the
Buffaloes' touchdowns. The first one kept Tooele in the game, but the
second was too late.

Highland's best moment - The Rams led 17-7 at halftime, then blew
the game open in the second half. Highland finished with 448 yards
total offense. Mason Keller passed for 121 yards and ran for 63.

What we learned from this game - This game was scheduled for
Sept. 18, but was moved the following afternoon due to problems at
Highland's field. Tooele's defense was disappointing. The 52 points
given up was a season high.

Next - Tooele has a home game against Olympus. Highland travels
to
Stansbury.

Sept. 11 - Bountiful 35, Tooele 6

Story of the game - Tyler Farr rushed for 139 yards and three
touchdowns - all of the scores came in the first quarter - as Bountiful
jumped to a big lead and cruised to a Region 6 win over Tooele.

Tooele's best moment - Milo Leakehe scored Tooele's only
touchdown, and prevented the shutout. The Buffaloes had somewhat
of a running game, but only completed two passes.

Bountiful's best moment - The Braves' offense was unstoppable in
the opening half. Tooele, meanwhile, never got anything going. The
Bountiful defense held the Buffaloes to 130 yards, and they didn't
score until the game had been decided.

What we learned from this game - This was homecoming for
Bountiful, and the Braves handled Tooele well. Both teams weren't
able to pass the ball at all. Bountiful may be the toughest team on
Tooele's schedule this year.

Next - Tooele is homecoming fodder again as it travels to Highland.
Bountiful takes on rival
Woods Cross.

Sept. 4 - Tooele 61, Ben Lomond 13

Story of the game - Damon Thomas, Thomas Allen and Nick Hyde
each had a great night running the football and Tooele bombed Ben
Lomond for the second straight year to capture its first win of the
season.

Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes dominated from the start. QB
Milo Leakahe had the running game working, and Tooele ran to a
33-0 halftime lead. The reserves got a chance to play, and  they were
able to continue the onslaught.

Ben Lomond's best moment - Information from this game was
limited. Ben Lomond's scoring was unavailable.

What we learned from this game - The Buffaloes earned their first
win. That's important, but things get a lot tougher with Tooele going
into Region 6 play.

Next - Tooele starts region at 4A power Bountiful. Ben Lomond plays
host to Ogden.

Aug. 28 - West 38, Tooele 13

Story of the game - Tana Afeaki and Anetipa Vaisagano combined
for over 300 yards rushing as West ran through Tooele for its first win
of the season.

Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes were in the game throughout
the first half, trailing only 14-6 at intermission. But the Panthers'
running game finally wore them down.

West's best moment - The Panthers finished with over 400 yards on
the ground and, because of that, dominated the time of possession.
Afeaki had 177 yards rushing and Vaisagano 154.

What we learned from this game - Tooele fell to 0-2 with the loss,
and this defeat showed the Buffaloes were dominated at the line of
scrimmage.

Next - Tooele returns home to play Ben Lomond. West plays host to
Woods Cross.

Deseret News brief,

Tribune or Tooele Transcript.

Aug. 21 - Judge Memorial 20, Tooele 6

Story of the game - Daniel Shiramizu ran for 93 yards, including a
touchdown, and passed for another and the Judge defense put the
clamps on Tooele in its non-region victory.

Tooele's best moment - The Buffaloes' offense struggled, but only in
the fact that it couldn't score. Tooele's only TD came when James
DeSantiago returned a kickoff 95 yards for a score. Tooele had over
200 yards rushing, led by Milo Leakahe with 105.

Judge Memorial's best moment - This was a defensive-minded
game, and Judge's defense was the victor. The Bulldogs kept
Tooele's offense out of the end zone until late in the game, when the
game had already been decided.

What we learned from this game - It would be interesting to now the
"red zone" statistics of this game. That is, how often Tooele made it
inside the Judge 20 - but didn't score.

Next - Tooele travels to West. Judge plays Ogden at home.
